Tasos
My name is Tasos and I´ve been at Red Fox for almost five years. It’s helped me quite a bit, just being more social with people and not as nervous to just speak to people I don’t know.

My experience with Red Fox has been amazing. I appreciate how inclusive they are—it doesn’t matter where you come from, your background, or your skin tone. I think of Red Fox as a truly great community and one of the best places I’ve ever worked.
Kain
Being a part of Red Fox has been really important to me. It has helped me come out of my shell by talking to other youth leaders, and it’s given me a better understanding of a work environment—my very first one. It has also helped me develop interpersonal skills. It’s been such a great opportunity for me.

Feeling safe and sound is critical for all youth, especially those who are at risk of violence or gang recruitment. Thanks to the City of Vancouver, and their Building Safer Communities initiative, Red Fox is helping youth ages 10 to 14 from Musqueam and east Vancouver feel safer and healthier in body, mind and spirit. Through life skills training, Indigenous teachings and recreation activities, youth are building resiliency and expanding their horizons. They are increasing their safety skills through learning about self defence, online safety, healthy relationships, and more. They are discovering the joy of giving back, through volunteering in their communities, and even creating their own volunteer projects.

The Seed Generation project brings together youth ages 12 to 18 to build life and employment skills, create and deliver volunteer projects in their communities, and foster healthy, active living and cultural connections. Small cohorts of 7 to 10 youth volunteer at Red Fox Active Play programs and youth-led projects, participate in workshops that promote positive mental health and Indigenous culture, take certificate training in First Aid, Foodsafe and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, and explore the lower mainland through fun recreation and cultural outings.
We are currently accepting applications for our next cohort starting in July. Youth living in Musqueam, Vancouver, North Vancouver, Tsleil - Waututh and New Westminster are invited to apply.

The Seed Generation project is funded by Canada Service Corps, a national movement that empowers youth aged 12–30 to gain experience and build important skills while giving back to their community. Learn more at Canada.ca/CanadaServiceCorps.
