Empowering youth through our Life Skills Program

Marlena loves taking part in our Life Skills program for youth.

We asked her what she enjoyed most about being part of the Red Fox family.

Here's what she told us

“I have been a part of Red Fox programs since Kindergarten, I am happy

to participate in the youth skills program on Mondays, I never used to

have anything to do after school, now I get to learn cooking skills, go on

outings and lead our PowWow drum and dance group on Tuesdays.”

Our Life Skills program is about more than just teaching everyday skills.

It's about transforming youth from the inside out, helping them build

confidence and courage. We love seeing youth evolve as they go through this

program. It's truly amazing!

Our staff and youth leaders deliver 14 weekly sessions across Metro

Vancouver, including programs in Maple Ridge, New Westminster, Surrey,

North Vancouver, West Vancouver and the City of Vancouver.

And guess what? Our programs are at capacity at almost all sites!

“My son loves it. He interacts with other children and keeps active physically.” It's no surprise that parents love having their children participate in our programs – and we love it too! We're so grateful for all of the youth we get to work with every day.

This fall, we've been mentoring youth who face barriers, supporting them as they learn essential life skills, including cooking and nutrition.

Special thanks to DoorDash Canada and their Community Credits program!

Now, youth can use DoorDash gift cards to buy ingredients for their planned

meals, promoting nutrition education and ensuring access to healthy food.

If you want to join us in the kitchen, we'd love to have you 🥦🧑‍🍳

Since our Pow wow and drumming group launched on October 2nd, we have been at

capacity! It's all part of the Strathcona Elementary Drum and PowWow Dance program.

Since October, our youth leaders – along with Strathcona’s Indigenous Cultural Enhancement workers Megan and Chad – have been teaching kids traditional songs like The Women Warrior song, The Welcome song and more. Our dream is to see this program flourish and keep on running for another year.
